Dakota County Public Health is holding two H1N1 walk-in flu vaccination clinics from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21.
The flu mist nasal vaccine will be administered to healthy children ages 2 through 9 on a first-come, first-served basis.
No appointments will be taken, and only the nasal spray vaccine is available.
Dakota County Public Health Director Bonnie Brueshoff said the county has enough nasal mist to vaccinate up to 6,000 children.
To receive the vaccine, children must be totally healthy and not
allergic to eggs or have a chronic health problem like asthma or
diabetes.
Bureshoff said children who have chronic illnesses can only receive the vaccination by needle.
Dakota County’s clinics will be held at the Western Service Center,
14955 Galaxie Avenue, Apple Valley and the Northern Service Center, 1
Mendota Road, West St. Paul.
People who have insurance are asked to bring their insurance cards.
More clinics will be planned to include other age groups after additional vaccine becomes available, according to the county.
