State Representative Mary Liz Holberg, R-District 36A, Lakeville, will
participate in a panel discussion on transportation policy as part of
the Bipartisan Policy Center Performance Driven: A New Vision for U.S.
Transportation Policy forum. The event is at the Cowles Auditorium at
the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute on November 23, 2009
from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Other members of the panel are Metropolitan
Council Chair Peter Bell, Minnesota Department of Transportation
Commissioner Tom Sorel, and State Senator Scott Dibble. The event is
free of charge, and those interested can register at
www.bipartisanpolicy.org .
“Transportation is, and always has been, an important issue to
myself and my constituents. We need to make sure that our state
effectively and efficiently maintains its infrastructure, while also
developing ideas for improving our transportation system to better
serve our citizens,” said Holberg. The representative stressed that the
state must prioritize and ensure money appropriated to construction and
maintenance is being spent responsibly.
In addition to serving on the transportation committees,
Representative Holberg is the lead Republican on the House Ways and
Means committee and also serves on the State Government Finance and
Civil Justice committees and the Small Business Caucus. The Minnesota
legislature will reconvene for the 2010 session on February 4.
