When asked to summarize his team’s 2010-11 season, Eagan girls hockey co-head coach Scott Darwitz didn’t tap dance around the subject.
“We stunk. We lost in the first round of the playoffs. That’s not acceptable at Eagan,” he said.
The question was, what would the 2011-12 version of the Wildcats do about it?

Enough to put smiles back on their coaches’ faces, for starters.

A 2-1 victory over Apple Valley in the Section 3AA championship game Feb. 15 put Eagan back in the state tournament after a two-year absence.

Eagan High’s play awarded a “starred performance” at state competition

Eagan High performed John Steinbeck’s American classic, “Of Mice and Men,” at the 2012 MSHSL State One Act Play Festival at the O’Shaughnnessy Auditorium on the campus of St. Catherine’s in St. Paul on February 9. The story is about the friendship of two drifters in California during the 1930s Depression. The members of the cast are Brennan Spicer, Dan Britt, Jacob Guzior, Alex Granquist, Scott Pescheret, Madeline Gore, Connor Swanson, Tom Dyke, Keddy Conocchioli and Thomas Rahman. The play is directed by Nancy Owzarek and John Ratzlaff is the technical manager. Photos by Rick Orndorf

Eastview One Act Play at State awarded “Starred Performance”

Eastview High School’s One Act Play Receives State High School League’s Top Rating on February 9 at the O’Shaughnessy Auditorium on the campus of St. Kate’s in St. Paul. A “Starred Performance” is the theater’s equivalent of an athletic State Championship. Eastview’s “starred performance” of Stop Kiss by Diana Son was directed by Scott Durocher and Rob Rachow. This is Eastview’s fourth starred performance in a row; they have earned eight total. Other “starred” ratings were in 1998, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Cast members were Karina Devine, Madeleine Archer-Burton, Cuong Duong, Kieherra Laing, Alex Norderhus, and Nita Chai. Support personnel were Yana Allen, Matt Althoff, Mason Donnohue, Sarah Faste, Abbie Green, Chris Grotkin, Danny Hill, Thar Jor’dan, Vicki Luse, Courtney Mensink, Taylor Orman, Noah Skantz, Tyler Steen, and Austin Truskowski. RHS presents “ON THE AIR”

Rosemount High School presents the RHS Radio Theater “ON THE AIR” at the Rosemount High School Performing Arts Center. “ON THE AIR” is a one hour radio theater show in the style of old time radio broadcasts. The production will be played before a live audience and streamed live via the internet. The cast of ten will perform comic and dramatic scripts, and vocal and instrumental music together with sound effects, all live on stage. “ON THE AIR” runs February 10-11 at 7:00 p.m., and February 12 at 2:00p.m. .
