Two challengers file for City Council seats

Apple Valley voters will see at least two challengers on the ballot in the November election for City Council seats.

Ikram Huq and Erik Younger have both filed as candidates for the two City Council seats up for election which are currently held by John Bergman and Sharon LaComb. The filing period runs Aug. 3-17. (more…)

Burnsville softball qualifies for the first time since 2005

After consecutive trips to the state tournament in 2004 and 2005, the Burnsville softball team suffered a four-year drought of playing at state.

This year it started to rain again for the Blaze.

The girls qualified for the Class AAA state tournament this week in North Mankato after winning what many players called “easily the toughest section in the state.”

Lakeville girls lacrosse fourth at state

Combined North/South team earns first-ever state berth

It’s been a while since Lakeville had just one high school team to rally around.

The cooperation between Lakeville North and South created a girls lacrosse team that had one of the best seasons of any in the state of Minnesota.

Last season Lakeville went 6-8. One season later the team put together 15 wins and qualified for state for the first time.

For every senior athlete, the goal is to qualify for state.

They’ve been playing their sport for several years and it’s their last chance to reach the pinnacle of high school sports.

Eagan High School’s boys lacrosse team is headed to the state tournament for the first time thanks to a strong showing from its senior players.

With 18 seniors, this was Eagan’s last chance for many reasons.

Lightning golf qualifies for state for the first time

For the first time in school history, Eastview girls golf is going to state as a team.

The Lightning won the Section 3AAA title last week at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids, ending a 12-year run by Woodbury.

Eastview moved into the section last season and finished second behind Woodbury, which recently split with East Ridge High School.
