Boyfriend charged in Eagan woman’s murder

A man accused of stabbing his Eagan girlfriend more than 100 times and dumping her body in a ditch has been charged with second-degree murder.

The Steele County Attorney’s Office charged Ryan Stanley Hurd, 22, in connection with the death of Kathryn Rose Anderson, 19.

Anderson, a native of Morris, Minn., lived in Eagan and attended college in Mendota Heights.

Her body was discovered by a passerby in a ditch near Owatonna the morning of Dec. 3.

Fire damages Lakeville Theater

Fire suppression system saved movie theater, fire chief says; theater could reopen Dec. 10

An electrical short in the concession area of the Lakeville Theater’s
lobby started an early morning fire Dec. 8 that drew crews from each of
Lakeville’s four fire stations.

Lakeville Fire Chief Scott Nelson said the fire suppression system contained the blaze to the lobby area.

Nobody was injured in the fire, but the movie theater’s lobby sustained significant fire and smoke damage.

Bachman invite big test for volleyball squads

The Todd L. Bachman Invitational this weekend at Lakeville North is a meaningful volleyball tournament for all involved.

It’s the last major tournament for most teams before playoffs and it features many of the top teams in the state.

But it also will be special for the hosts — Lakeville North.

This is the 25th year for the invite, but it’s the second year its been called the Todd L. Bachman Invitational.

It’s meant to honor the memory of Todd Bachman and his family’s contributions to the volleyball program. Bachman was killed last year at the Beijing Olympics.
