The lone item on the Rosemount City Council’s Tuesday, May 3 regular meeting’s preliminary agenda outside of its consent listing will be a required assessment hearing for the 2011 Street Improvement Project.

Highway 50 east of Farmington to be resurfaced

Dakota County residents who use the stretch of Highway 50 from Highway 3 in Farmington east to Highway 20 in Douglas Township will encounter construction delays from May 9-25, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Crews will begin to resurface the road May 9. (more…)

Freshman State Sen. Dave Thompson held a town hall meeting Saturday at Farmington High

State Sen. Dave Thompson discussed issues with about eight informed citizens who posed questions and debated issues.

School. Thompson (R-Dist. 36) is the assistant majority leader and has made headlines for opposing funds for a new Vikings stadium and proposing the state freeze school district employee wages.

Thompson discussed a range of topics, including business regulations, gay marriage and the economy, with the informed citizens who attended the event.

Lakeville man sentenced for operating Ponzi scheme

A 41-year-old Lakeville man who defrauded 18 lenders of more than $79.9 million was sentenced on Friday, April 30 to six years in prison.

The U.S. District Court ruling found Corey Noel Johnston guilty of bank fraud and filing a false income tax return while operating his Ponzi scheme. (more…)
