An Eagan man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for distributing more than 600 images of child pornography through the Internet.
Keith James Hubbard, 53, was charged last September with one count of distribution of child pornography. He pleaded guilty in March, admitting he used the Internet to share hundreds of images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Authorities discovered that Hubbard was sharing the images through a peer-to-peer computer networking system in 2006.
In May of that year a search of Hubbard’s Eagan residence found more than 20,000 child pornography images, including photos and videotapes.
Hubbard’s sentence was enhanced because he was convicted in 1985 of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor.
“The worst criminals are those who prey on our most vulnerable citizens and our most valuable resource – our children,” said U.S. Attorney B. Todd Jones. “Criminals like this defendant target defenseless children to satisfy their own twisted desires. We should not tolerate it as a society.”
Following Hubbard’s incarceration, any violation of his conditions of release may result in imprisonment for the rest of his life, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
